DISPLAY Ingot molds were constructed of various substances, according to the use for which they were intended. For the reception of platinum, melted with the oxy-hydrogen blowpipe, they were formed of lime or coke; for gold and silver they were made of cast iron. There were also molds formed of soapstones. It was essential to heat the mold before pouring. |
