Description Six steel cone socket handles, three pairs in three different designs, and five steel points housed in green cardboard box bearing the following inscription on its lid: "Samples of Socket Handles / which were made when the / question of adopting the S & L / Thread was under discussion / See S.I.F. letter of Oct. 3 / 88." Damaged box lid also bears partial inscription: Mr. Lewis decided not to / change the thread [...] / put holes in all C. [...] as soon as practical [...] / so / Dr. Burk is to m [...] / machines for not[...] / Points. Nov. [...]" All six handles and one steel point bear the entwined SSW logo of S. S. White Dental Manufacturing Company. The other four steel points bear no manufacturer's marks.
